Big Silver is a charitable organization established in 2015, focusing on population aging in Hong Kong. It is dedicated to collecting healthcare and social welfare resources and is currently the largest carer information exchange platform in Hong Kong. The founder, Leila Chan, has published books such as 《死在香港》 and 《香港好走》, advocating for the public to make decisions about their end-of-life journey.

Food and Environmental Hygiene Department-Green Burial

Currently, scattering of cremated ashes can take place in the 13 Gardens of Remembrance (GoRs) under the management of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) and 3 designated areas in Hong Kong waters. Another GoR under construction in the Shek Mun Columbarium in Sha Tin is expected to be completed and commissioned by 2025. Moreover, the Government encourages non-governmental and religious organizations to build GoR within their managed cemeteries. The Government will continue to improve facilities and services for the convenience of the public.

Objective

The Comfort Care Concern Group helps terminally ill patients receive comfort and support as they complete the journey of life with dignity, while also helping the bereaved cope with their losses.

Their service include Bereavement counselling service, Child Grief Counselling Service, Services for the terminally ill, and Funeral Support Service.

Endless Care Service

The Endless Care Services was established by the Elderly Services Section of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals in 2009. It has two service units, namely Chun Tei Kok Buddhist Association Limited Centre of Life Enlightening and Life X Life & Death Educational Project. By offering funeral consultation and support to the bereaved persons, plan-ahead funeral arrangement and execution, life-and-death education programmes as well as professional training, it aims to encourage the elderly and also the general public to live a positive, fulfilling life upon entering the late stage, and by planning ahead for the funeral arrangements, so as to relieve the pressure of the elders as well as their caregivers in facing the end of life.

Plan Ahead Funeral Arrangement:
To provide the childless elderly singletons, elderly couples and terminally-ill patients with pre-funeral service planning and community resources. The Service would handle their funerals according to their will after they pass away.

Alongside is a diverse and inclusive social enterprise, and also the first one-stop end-of-life platform dedicated to providing support to the sexual/gender minorities in Hong Kong in advance planning, and bereavement support.

In 2014, Western Monastery generously donated $1 million to set up a funeral assistance project named “The Yan Chai Hospital and Western Monastery Funeral Assistance Scheme”. The scheme offers financial assistance to eligible applicants who do not have the ability to pay for funeral expense.

Hong Kong Life and Death Studies Association is a charitable organization that was established in 2018. Over the years, it has been dedicated to promoting life and death education to the community through various means and providing professional training. Additionally, the organization offers professional consultation on end-of-life care planning and emotional counseling services to terminally ill patients and bereaved families.
