💬Concurrent Session S8 - Building a Compassion-Community: Multiperspectives of Dying-in-place
With an ageing population and a growing preference for ageing in place, more elderly individuals in Hong Kong wish to receive rehabilitative and palliative care at home rather than in hospitals or residential care homes when facing declining health⚰️. The concept of dying-in-place - allowing individuals to remain in familiar surroundings until the end of life👋 - has gained increasing attention as it aligns with the dignity and emotional well-being of patients and their families💛.
💡This session will bring together professionals from different sectors to shed light on the comprehensive social infrastructure and policy support required to make home and community-based palliative care more accessible and sustainable; share best practices and insights on building an ecosystem that facilitates home and community-based care, making "dying-in-place" a viable option🛌. Discussions will also explore the policy gaps and necessary support systems needed to strengthen palliative care services within the community.
